They came on Harleys and Hondas, Indians and Victories and Spyders. On two wheels and three wheels, motorcycling Veterans and their family members roared up Austin’s Congress Avenue today for the 62nd Annual Austin Veterans’ Day Parade.
The parade started at the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge and continued up Congress Avenue to the Texas State Capitol. A commemoration program was held on the south steps of the State Capitol, honoring the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII (1941–1946), the 40th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War (1964–1975) and a Tribute to the 60th Anniversary of the end of the Korean War (1950–1955). Part of the ceremony included a wreath laying with bell tolling, and a 21 gun salute and taps.
“Pray for our men and women in uniform and remember our Veterans!”
