We’re back with another super road that’s close enough to the DFW MetroPlex for a day trip. FM 4 (no relation whatsoever to Park Road 4, BTW), between Granbury and Jacksboro, is a beautiful twisty road that zig-zags along among gently rolling hills and wooded stream crossings. Very nice. Some people refer to this area as the “North Texas Hill Country.” If you go, you’ll see why.
FM 4 has been voted our BEST IN TEXAS Readers’ Choice Poll favorite North Texas road quite a few times. If you’re looking for a swim, Possum Kingdom Lake State Park is in the area. It’s a great stop for hiking and swimming.
