December is the time for Toy Runs. The last of these will be rolling through this weekend, December 11-12, and next, December 18-19. What is a toy run, you ask? A toy run takes place when a group of motorcyclists meets at a given location, usually bringing an unwrapped toy and/or cash donation per rider. The group then rides together to deliver donations and Christmas cheer to a nonprofit program, such as Toys for Tots, or an organization, such as a shelter or hospital children’s ward.
If you have yet to join in the toy run fun this holiday season, a few options include and the Texas Toy Run (Dec. 11, Grapevine), Toy Runnerz (Dec. 12, Hutto), and the North Texas Toy Run (Dec. 18, Carrollton).
Santa suits and blinking lights on bikes optional, but much appreciated. Some people are into it. Really, really into it….
No toy run in your neck of the woods? Google bluesanta.org or brownsanta.org for a new toy drop-off location near you! Or find yourself a nearby Salvation Army Angel Tree to fulfill a little angel’s wishes this Christmas.
If you live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, don’t be surprised to see a group of ladies in Mrs. Clause outfits roll by on two or three wheels. Since 2019, the Santa Biker Babes (organized by the women’s riding group WOW) have delivered gifts and necessities to nursing home residents and classroom children in the area. Give these hometown heroes a biker wave!
Finally, let’s not forget to pay tribute to the ugly Christmas sweater. Gather round in downtown Sealey wearing your worst wool for the Ugly Sweater Car and Motorcycle Social (Dec. 11, Sealey).
