On October 1-3, the North Texas Norton Owners Association will hold their 26th Annual Lake O’ The Pines Rallye.
The Lake O’ The Pines Rallye has a long reputation for inviting noted motorcyclists to preside as the grand marshal and 2010 is no exception with the invitation of Herb Harris. Mr. Harris is an eminent Vincent motorcycle authority and collector, as well as owner of the “Rollie Free Bathing Suit Bike.” This is the Vincent Lightning that Rollie Free was pictured riding in Bonneville wearing nothing but a shower cap, swim shorts and sneakers, while laying straight out on the rear fender. The technique earned him a world speed record in 1948. “We couldn’t be happier,” says Rallye Chairman, Richard Asprey, “to have Herb headlining the event and to be able to display what is arguably one of the most famous motorcycles in history.” The bike will be on display on Saturday.
Located on the shores of the Lake O’ The Pines near Jefferson, Texas, the rally offers a comprehensive vintage bike show featuring British and European marques, and a unique Rolling Concours ride open to any running motorbike 30 years or older.
