There’s more news about motorcycle-only checkpoints. The AMA tells us some 50 U.S. House members have signed onto a bill that would bar the U.S. transportation secretary from providing funds for motorcycle-only checkpoints. Ron Paul is the sole House member representing Texas who has signed on.

The Texas Department of Transportation is telling us that with the expansion of the Panama Canal slated for completion in 2014, TxDOT needs to ensure the state’s transportation system is prepared for the additional freight traffic the development is expected to generate.

While serving a tour of duty in Vietnam for the U.S. Army from 1966-67, Albert Perez survived a gunshot wound to the head. Perez was awarded a Purple Heart and returned home to Live Oak County, where he’s spent the last 15 years working as a maintenance technician for TxDOT’s George West Maintenance Section.
