What is an Adventure Challenge?
The Ride Texas Adventure Challenge is a skills competition targeting the Adventurer Rider, similar to a timed course run like a sports car road rally. A 100+ mile course and optional challenge stages would be ridden for points to win prizes.
We wanted to create an event for the motorcycle enthusiasts who aren’t served by other events. The Adventure bike category is the fastest growing segment of riders today, but there nothing offered in Texas to match their interests.
The event was inspired by conversations with the owners of The Gage Hotel, the first sponsor of the Challenge. The Gage is going to be Rally Central, the registrations, the dinners, and all the non-riding events will be centered at the famous hotel. As part of their support for the event, The Gage is offering discounted rooms to Adventure Challenge riders. If you’ve never stayed at The Gage, this is your opportunity to experience one of the grandest hotels in Texas.
NOTE: There was an error in the original information. The Gage Hotel is discounting rooms but not at half off.
What’s going to happen?
Basic Timeline:
• Friday: Early pre-registration and dinner, we’ll start the weekend with a BBQ cookout Friday night followed by entertainment after dinner, but not late, riders are going to want to get their rest.
• Saturday morning: Breakfast and Skills Classes with top ADV riding Instructors
• Saturday Noon: Riders Meeting and distribute course maps and checkpoint cards.
• Saturday 12:30: The ride begins. The point is to cover a segment in a given time. This is to prevent racing. Expect a 3-hour 100-120 mile ride on the pavement and with off-road sections. We will have four checkpoints and two optional challenge sections along the course.
• Saturday 6 PM: Awards banquet dinner at The Gage Hotel where the prizes and trophies will be presented. After the dining, a band and the party.
• Sunday: Breakfast and head home.
