Number 3 in our Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Wildflower Road in Texas is Texas Highway 16, which runs from Antelope near Texas’ border with Oklahoma, south to Zapata, near the border with Mexico. TX 16 is a big stretch of road, and one of Texas’s best back roads, no doubt, but the section voted best for wildflower hunters is the one between Markley and Boerne.
