10th Anniversary
This year, in addition to the usual festivities at the family-friendly Harvest Classic Rally, being held 10/19-20, in Luckenbach, the fine folks from Be The Match, National Marrow Registry will be on hand Saturday, October 20th to make it easy for you to learn more about how you can save a life by registering with the National Marrow Donor Registry.
A lot of good causes ask for your financial help to fund righteous programs, but there’s one that wants your spit. Yes, spit. That’s all they ask, unless you become match for someone whose life you could save. That’s heavy, right.
This is particularly poignant because rally-founder Russell Duke started the Harvest Classic ten years ago, in honor of his daughter, Emma, who fought but lost her battle against cancer. It seems fitting that this event in Emma’s honor will do even more to help others who are battling cancer.
Where do you fit in?
It’s a personal decision, but what a feeling it must be to know you saved someone’s life. No matter what your faith, or lack thereof, by being a marrow donor, you’ve created some real goodness in world that needs more of it. And the procedure itself is not what you think either.
If you’re at the Harvest Classic Rally, on October 20th, stop by the Be The Match table and take a look. If you’re not, then take a look at their website. You can start the process online, too.
Children, adults, people like you are stricken with cancer everyday. At any time, any of us, may in fact need a bone marrow transplant. It’s something to consider.
