TOP 10 Burgers in 10 days

In the 8th Annual BEST IN TEXAS edition we threw down the gauntlet challenging readers to eat the TOP 10 Readers’ Choice Hamburgers in 10 days. Weeks passed as we wondered if anyone would be able to accomplish such a feat as to eat 10 hamburgers located all across the Great State of Texas in just 10 days. Is it possible? Should it even be attempted?

We asked questers to send in photos of themselves with a burger at all of the TOP 10 burger spots, and then we waited for the champions-to-be to get busy.

And lo, they did, but only one man claims the title. We’d like to christen Motorbike Mike McMahan, of Houston the RIDE TEXAS® 10 BEST Burger Quest Champion. He quested with style and a sense of humor, always a good combination.

After such an epic quest he said just this,  “I just completed my Burger Quest. Great roads, great hamburgers and lots of friendly people. I gained 10 pounds and my cholesterol level has spiked but it was all well worth it.”  Congratulations, kudos and “wowee!” to Motorbike Mike a 2010 10 Best Burger Quest Champion.  Here are the photos from his burger-based journey across Texas.

  1. Kevin Blackshear says:

I have to agree… Alamo Springs Cafe is fantastic!! And not just the burgers, try the shrimp po’boy or the fried catfish, both are all-stars with bikers from all over central and south Texas.

  2. Editor says:

The burger TOP 10 is based on results of our readers’ choice poll. These are the TOP 10 Texas burgers according to RT readers. But to respond your criticism, based on what most people consider the center of Texas, the Alamo Café in Fredericksburg isn’t in East Texas, neither are any of the Storm’s Restaurants (Marble Falls & Llano), or Mel’s (Copperas Cove), or the Andice General Store, etc. – Val, Editor

  3. Jeff Green says:

He didnt seem so happy at Yankee Tavern, What about the rest of Texas, Some of us dont limit out rides to East Texas.

  4. Keith "Walkman" Waters says:

Mike! You are indeed Da Man!
