  1. Bent Rim Grill in Leakey? I’ll take a Whataburger any day of the week over that place. It’s as overrated as Coopers in Llano.

  2. Larr Borden says:

Whataburger has made the Top 10 for several years. They are one of the best fast food burgers and we stop there often when we are on the road. They’re consistently good IMHO.

  3. Bill Hendryx says:

Since this was the choice of readers, I don’t see how it damages credibility in any way.

I too was a little surprised to see Whataburger make the Top 10, but, like you Bryan, I eat there all the time because it’s the best ‘fast’ burger.

Further, Whataburger has stores EVERYWHERE, meaning lots more people eat there than at any of those other fine joints you mentioned. I’d bet that Bent Rim and the others received their share of votes — just not as many as Whataburger.

  4. Editor says:

It’s cool that you disagree with a TOP 10 READER CHOICE Winner, but it’s important to understand that it’s a READERS’ CHOICE AWARDS. Readers voted for WhatABurger. The editors DID NOT Pick any of the winners. Zero. Zilch. Nada. That’s the deal with READERS’ CHOICE Poll. We may agree or disagree with the results, but it’s not our call.

Readers probably voted for WhatAburger for the very reason you mentioned “…they make a great burger compared to typical fast food chains.”

P.S. Bryan Why don’t you post your burger suggestions to the Hamburger Quest forum (http://ridetexas.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=127) we set up for that purpose. I bet you’ll get a lot of response.

  5. Top 10 Best Hamburgers

Whataburger? Are you serious? I have to say, the fact that whataburger made this list kills all credibility to it. It’s criminal to put Whataburger on this list when there’s no mention of Herd’s Hamburger in Jacksboro, Peabody’s in Goldthwaite, The Burger Shack in Nocona, the Ole’ West Bean & Burger Co # 2‎ in Athens, or the Bent Rim Grill in Leakey. I’m sure there are a lot of others that should make this list before Whataburger as well. I’m sceptical of Storm’s as well but since I’ve never had a Storm’s burger despite the fact that I’ve ridden past several locations. The fact that they do have a number of locations should at least come with a requirement of naming a specific one. Surely one must be better than all the others. An example would be the Dairy Queen in in Bowie Texas. They also serve an excellent burger, better than any other Dairy Queen I’ve been to and easily better than Whataburger. Just so you know, I’m not anti-Whataburger, they make a great burger compared to typical fast food chains. I eat at them all the time. I just don’t think they are worthy of a top 10 ranking in a forum like this.
